A hearty thanks to Dawson for really getting the ball rolling this time. We have proven without a doubt that we are both computer illiterate. This time it's for real though some serious blogging is about to go down. First a short recap of where and what we have done so far.
Our place in Nusa Lembongan
First stop was Bali, Indonesia home of many great waves and great people. And Bintang a beer that lives up to it's claim of international quality. Not quite as bold as Carlsberg's "Possibly the world's greatest beer." Thank you Jake and Meagan Neal for setting us up with the Lumbung Sari a (really nice hotel) in Legian, Bali north of the madness that is Kuta. Elle and I were there for a few days before Mike and Jayne arrived so we thought we should probably risk our lives on a scooter and drive to UIuwatu for a day. After that we used a local driver with a van for our transport. Scary drivers!
After the Legian we all went out to Uluwatu which is out on the peninsula more near the surf breaks and rented a house where we stayed for a week. Mike and I had large crowded waves all week it was fun. Our house came fully furnished with a family of 30 which we didn't know were included in the package. We had a great BBQ with the family with fish and traditional indonesian treats. The real special night was watching one of the family members, Duru, dance at the famous Uluwatu temple that overlooked the Indian Ocean. What a view!
After we said good-bye to Uluwatu, the four of us headed to Nusa Lembongan. It's a small island off Bali that was a short hour and a half ferry ride away. A little piece of paradise! We scored a really sweet Bungalow that overlooked the water. Really cool village with lots of hiking and unfortunately teeny tiny overcrowded surf! We stayed there for a week and headed out.
On Justin's birthday we took what we thought was a 5 hours ferry to the island of Lombok. What a day that was! 12 hours later, waterlogged and tired, we arrived in Lombok. Because of my two left feet, I barley made it out of the boat!
